Phase I Summary report
A Steering Committee for DE Africa was formed in 2018 and has broad representation including; Kenya Office of the Deputy President, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research South Africa, Group on Earth Observations, Ghana Statistical Service, South African National Space Agency, Geoscience Australia, World Economic Forum, Committee on Earth Observations Satellites, the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data and the UN Economic Commission for Africa. With the support of funding from the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research, the Steering Committee developed this study to determine the viability of a scalable, economically and technically sustainable model in Africa, for Africa.
To provide the framework and overarching direction for all communication activities and stakeholder engagement activities.
Capacity development strategy
To outline the principles, tools and methodologies for capacity development, using an impact-oriented and demand-driven approach.
A high-level approach for mutually beneficial partnerships that help to deliver the program, amplify the benefits and ensure sustainability.
A high-level approach for working with programs that exist in Africa to maximize shared benefits.

The approach for validating DE Africa datasets and how to assess, identify bias or errors and highlight any limitations.

The approach for ensuring DE Africa is an exemplar of diversity and inclusiveness.
A value proposition that supports a sustainable business and funding model by engaging countries, thus ensuring delivery of DE Africa products and services in the long-term.
