Mr Tobias Landmann is a senior geospatial scientist in the Data Management, Modelling, and Geo-Information (DMMG) Unit at icipe, a leading African geospatial research and development team. He focuses on using geospatial data to address challenges in health, food security, and environmental sustainability, aligning closely with Digital Earth Africa’s (DEA) mission.

Tobias leads projects like the WHO-accredited Vector Atlas, which integrates Earth observation data and local knowledge to predict disease risks, and collaborates with ESA to develop drought forecasts and digital twin technologies for crop health monitoring. His work also includes using EO data for biodiversity reporting and livestock disease monitoring.

As a member of DE Africa’s TAC, Tobias aims to guide the development of frameworks that make Earth observation data actionable, integrate diverse data streams, and support capacity building to ensure the sustainability of DEA’s solutions across Africa.
