Ghana Space Science and Technology Institute (GSSTI) and Ghana GEO

Dr. Kofi Asare is a research scientist at the Ghana Space Science and Technology Institute (GSSTI) and manager of the Remote Sensing and Climate Centre. With a PhD and MPhil in Geography, he specializes in Earth Observation (EO) and remote sensing for climate studies, environmental monitoring, and sustainable development. His research focuses on food security, drought resilience, and climate change adaptation, using EO data to drive informed decision-making.

Kofi has led key projects in land cover mapping, agricultural monitoring, and climate risk assessments, collaborating with national and international partners. As the GEO focal point and GEO Coordinator for Ghana, he advocates for the use of EO data in generating earth intelligence. As a member of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) for Digital Earth Africa (DE Africa), Kofi aims to improve data accessibility, capacity building, and policy integration, supporting areas like agriculture, water resource management, and climate monitoring.
