Digital Earth Africa (DE Africa) Product Developer, Fang Yuan, will present a lightning talk on the program, what we’re working to achieve and how our analysis-ready satellite data for Africa is powered by STAC metadata.

Alex Leith who heads up Digital Earth Australia and Africa Technologies will also provide a hands-on introduction to our DE Africa data so participants will be equipped with knowledge to get involved and contribute to the DE Africa sponsored community awards prize.

Community awards

To further the Cloud Native Geospatial ecosystem, a number of prizes will be awarded across a variety of categories to recognise and encourage contributions, and to bring along new community members. We’re proud to sponsor a ‘Newcomers Grant’ of $1000 to help new participants take work they begin from the day to continue within their community, plus a full travel grant for the next in-person STAC sprint.

Alongside Amazon Web Services (SWA), we’re also sponsoring the ‘Best use of our contribution to Sentinel-2 Africa STAC/COG data’ community recognition award.
