{"id":3380,"date":"2021-12-09T07:04:00","date_gmt":"2021-12-09T07:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/digitalearthafrica.org\/?p=3380"},"modified":"2025-04-07T07:12:00","modified_gmt":"2025-04-07T07:12:00","slug":"digital-earth-africa-signs-mou-with-the-university-of-energy-and-natural-resources-ghana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/digitalearthafrica.org\/en_za\/digital-earth-africa-signs-mou-with-the-university-of-energy-and-natural-resources-ghana\/","title":{"rendered":"Digital Earth Africa signs MOU with the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Ghana"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The MOU, signed in October 2021, marks the beginning of a collaborative partnership between Digital Earth Africa (DE Africa) and the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) based in Sunyani, Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The partnership is founded on a common belief in&nbsp;the potential of geospatial and Earth observation data to address environmental and development issues, and related capacity building and project implementation. It also builds on DE Africa\u2019s existing network of partners across Ghana and West Africa more broadly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To kick off the collaboration, UENR will be using DE Africa\u2019s data services to help progress a number of projects in the areas of land degradation and water observation. They will also provide support and capacity development in Ghana and across West Africa, building on our user community in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is fantastic to formalise this important partnership in Ghana,\u201d said Dr Lisa Hall, Managing Director of the DE Africa Establishment Team. \u201cUENR is undertaking valuable research into areas that will be critical to a healthier, economically stronger and environmentally sustainable future for Ghana.
